Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays ever since I arrived in the United States of America over five years ago. The only thing that I wish would happen in the future is to have my family with me during this special and joyous occasion. My family has always been my utmost priority ever since.

I am thankful for having a family who are closed knit with each other because we may not have a lot of money but having each other is enough to surpass any trials that we encounter everyday. I am thankful for so many things such as having a wonderful and loving husband, good health, job and for having wonderful friends. Also, I am thankful for having the gospel in my life and for knowing that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ loves us and that He gave us many ways so we can return in his presence.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the people across the United States of America.

Six Years Death Anniversary of My Mother-in-law

Six year ago, my mother-in-law passed away of breast cancer. She was diagnosed for years get cured and in the end the cancer returned again. She lost her battle on September 8, 2005 a year before I got married with her only son. I still remember the day when my husband called me frantically over the phone and was crying hysterically. I felt his pain because I know that he loves and adore his mother. Since my husband was the baby among five children and the only boy, he was very close to my mother-in-law and was there all the time for her when she needed him. I can imagine how sad it would have been for my husband after losing his mother because I don’t think I can handle the situation if that happens to my own mother. Every day, my husband always remember his mother for all the great memories they have shared together and I am hoping that we could finally meet again in the next life to come. Happy six years death anniversary Mom! We Love You!

My Parents Are Celebrating Their 30th Wedding Anniversary

I am proud to tell you that my parents were celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary last August 25th of 2011. They both can’t believe that they have been married that long because according to my Dad he is pretty much in love with my mother and vice versa. I am so bless to have a loving parents and they are thankful to have 12 wonderful children who adore and love them dearly. I will be uploading the pictures of my parents later today!

Random Events

This will be my first entry for the month of August and I am excited to share with you the latest happenings and adventures that my family in the Philippines has tackled for the first week of August and so forth. Well, first of all my sister who is a registered nurse came home after her contract ends last July. She is happy to be with my family again but right now she is busy looking for a job locally and abroad. She wanted to go to Canada to practice her profession but she has to spend a lot of money to do that before she can get a position. On the other hand, she purchases another computer for the family and decided to have the internet back again at home.

Likewise, I also found out that our youngest sibling Eunice will need to see an eye doctor after her school teacher informed my mother that she had a hard time reading the black board in a far distance. My sister Eunice had to go closer to the blackboard in order for her to read the sentence that the teacher assigned to her. If that is the case, then she will be the youngest so far in my family who will be wearing prescription eyeglasses.

Lastly, my sister-in-law is celebrating her birthday today but since she is residing from another state I won’t probably be seeing her till next time. Goodbye folks and have a blessed day!

Get Well Soon Papa

I am heartbroken right now after chatting with one of my younger sisters. I have learned that my father is ill and that he needs to take a lot of medication so he can recuperate back to his normal health condition. I wish I could be there for him during this time but only time will tell when I can go back to see my family in the Philippines. It would have been nicer if we are just residing in a neighboring state or city because it will be easier for my dear hubby and I to visit my family but we are too far from them.

After chatting with my sister via the yahoo messenger awhile back, I was reminded about an incident that involves one member of my family in the Philippines. It would have been difficult if my family wasn’t there to support a member of our family about her problem but the family bond that we enjoyed so much and our love for each one of us helps her gain more confident that she can beat the odds. I truly believe about the saying “A family that prays together, stays together”. I love my family so much and I would never trade them for anything in this world.

The Act of Communicating

I was very pleased to talk to my sister over the phone about an hour ago or so. Actually, last week, I had the chance to stop by at the Filipino store here in my place and decided to purchase a few phone cards that I can used when contacting my family in the Philippines. I was happy after I found out that she is doing good and is waiting for her next interview at one of the schools in the Philippines for a teaching position. She is a license English teacher and is working on her Master’s Degree. I have not seen her for nearly five years now since migrating to the US in 2006 and I had told her that my husband and I are planning to visit them next year.

On the other hand, I always love to communicate with my family and friends everyday and though there are times that I am exhausted from my full time job I still make sure that I at least say hello or hi to my family just to let them know that I am doing good. Communication is a very important factor especially if you are oceans or miles away from your family or love ones because it helps to bridge the gap and help the relationship to stay strong at all times.

My Little Brother is Sick

I just finished chatting with my mother via Yahoo and she told me that my little brother Ephraim is having high fever because his tonsillitis is all swollen. It has been two days already and according to my mother she already brought him to a physician for a check-up and to ask him about an effective medicine to stop the swelling and his high fever. Anyways, my mother told me that she needed money for his medication since the medicines are quite expensive and she can’t afford to purchase everything at ones. I am thankful that I have extra money on my savings account which allows me to send them money right away especially emergency cases like this. I hope and pray that he will recuperate right away so he won’t miss any school days. To my little brother, Ephraim I hope that you will always remember that Insi Nene loves you a lot! Take care and I hope to see you soon.

How do you discipline your kids?

You know what? As far as I can remember, my mother has always been the disciplinarian compared to my Dad. My father has a different way when confronting us especially when we make mistakes because he likes to talk to us instead of giving us corporal punishment. I have always been more fearful with my mother as far as I can remember because I know what will happen if I make her upset. Honestly, there was a few times when I question the way she punished us for our mistakes but I realized that it was for the best. All 12 children including me grew up to be a good individual who respect older people and become successful with our careers and life. I am happy how my parents raised us though both my mother and my father differ on how they approach things when it comes to their children.

What about you guys? How do you discipline your children? What are your techniques?

Friendly Update About My Family

I have not been active here for quite some time and to be honest with you folks a lot of things happen in my family back home. Just to give you an update two of my sisters graduated last April. One of them graduated from elementary with honors and the other sister graduated from high school with honors as well. We are so thrilled and proud of their achievements and not only that the younger siblings also received their awards. My little brother Ephraim was the second honor for his class plus our youngest sibling among 12 children also was the third honor for her prekindergarten class.

Everything was just awesome you know although not everything is perfect as what we hoped for but we are trying our best to stay positive. My father has been having problems with his health and I know it gives a lot of pressure to my mother especially but with God’s help I know we will get through this.

Table of 14

The movie Cheaper by the dozen reminds me so much of my big family. You may be wondering why? But let me tell you I have two wonderful parents and they have 12 children and oh that includes me. My parents have 10 girls and 2 boys.

I am the oldest and the first one to get married. None of my sister’s is in a relationship right now and I don’t know when my parents will have their first grandchild. My sister’s ages ranges from 26, 25, 23, 21, 18, 16, 14, 12 and 5 years old. On the other hand, my two brother’s ages are 19 and 8 years old. My mother is 48 years old and my father is 55 years old.

We are indeed a big family but we are happy! How big is your family?
